Bruce Ellis has been a Trustee of TASC Madagascar for over 15 years and a true and loyal friend for ever. His sad passing this week has left us all saddened at the loss of such an amazing character, a true believer in the Dignity of everyone and a great friend, father and companion.
He was a true man of code and deep belief in the dignity of all and lived that code everyday. You can not imagine the depth of our friendships and the sincerity of Bruce’s commitment to TASC and to the poor.
Since the very beginning he has been a trojan of good advice and deep conviction and never left us waver from the path of helping the poorest of the poor.
Add to that just how hilarious he was, his totally scattered brain and his love for laughter and joy and you can see how deeply sorry we are to loose such a friend.
He was simply a hoot and the best travelling and cycling companion, but it was always about the kids.
Every lunch stop on every forgotten dirt track he would be feeding kids and making fun and faces.
His spiritual tie to Pere Emeric and Tanjomoha was immense and his financial contribution using his family funds and Uncle’s legacy changed literally thousands of lives.
There would be no St Paul’s school at the outcast village in Tanantsara or the new school, well, art room and kitchens at the school for mentally handicapped in Fianar.
His legacy and that of the Ellis family can not be under estimated and we remain proud of the love we shared with him and the many miles of dusty roads we travelled together.
They can break the mould, there was no one like him.
A wonderful kind man with a massive heart and a smile that will stay with us.
We are blessed to have known and loved him and he will stay forever in our hearts.
He never stopped talking about his son Barney and we at TASC pass on our deepest sympathy to Barney and his entire family.
Rest in Peace old friend.
